Cara Feain Ryan OLY, Class of 2016, has become one of Australia’s leading middle distance and steeplechase athletes since completing her schooling. While at MBC, she showed early athletic promise, in 2016 she won the Australian Under 18 2000m steeplechase title and making her international debut at the Oceania Athletics Championships, where she earned a silver medal establishing herself as a standout young runner.

After graduating, Cara rose quickly through the national ranks, winning the Australian National Championship title in the 3000m steeplechase in 2023 and making her senior international debut at the World Athletics Championships later that year.

A highlight of her international career came in 2023, when she claimed gold in the 3000m steeplechase at the World University Games in Chengdu. She has also enjoyed ongoing success at the highest level, representing Australia at the World Athletics Championships in 2022, 2023 and 2025, while claiming further Australian National Championship titles in the 3000m steeplechase in 2025 and 2026.

In 2024, Cara achieved two major milestones in the same year, making her Olympic debut at the Paris Games in the 3000m steeplechase while also graduating with a Bachelor of Speech Pathology (Honours) from the University of Queensland. She now works as a paediatric speech pathologist in private practice and has previously contributed to the sport through coaching, helping to guide emerging athletes. Balancing elite sport with professional achievement, Cara continues to inspire through her commitment and excellence both on and off the track.
